Steel Crack
Step 1
For this effect of ripped open metal you will need the Steel Crack stencil plus pro-color paints black, white and blue.
Step 2
First, place the inner shape of the ripped open metal onto your painting surface and spray the shadings on the upper three edges using black diluted with water.
Step 3
Now use the part of the stencil with the first three areas of ripped open metal. Using transparent black again, add some shadings for the bulges on the edges.
Step 4
Once the first three backward bent metal pieces on the painting surface have dried, apply the stencil part for the remaining ones and spray a gradient with transparent black on them as well.
Step 5
In order for the whole thing to appear more realistic, create a shadow with the corresponding stencil element. Spray the area underneath the upward bent metal pieces rather dark, getting lighter towards the outside.
Step 6
Use the inside area of the ripped open metal for your own motives and content. In this case it has been filled with a scene created with the help of Harder & Steenbeck's Space Landscape stencil. For this, make sure that all the ripped open metal parts are covered with masking tape and only the inside area is exposed. Have fun inventing your own inside motif and implementing your ripped open metal effect.
